Police Bust Poppy Husk Drug Racket, One Arrested
Hyderabad police today arrested a drug peddler and seized 21 kg of poppy husk, drug-processing equipment, two mobiles and a Hero Splendor, valued at Rs. 3.5 lakh.

In a joint operation, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and the Amberpet police today arrested a drug peddler and seized 21 kg of poppy husk, along with drug-processing equipment, including a mixer grinder, two jars, weighing machines and a strainer.
They also seized two mobile phones and a Hero Splendor motorcycle used in the operation.
The items seized were valued at Rs 3.5 lakh cumulatively.
The accused Mangala Ram (44), a native of Barmer, Rajasthan, and a resident of Chengicherla, Hyderabad, was working as a steel welder. Police said that driven by addiction and the lure of easy money, he had been procuring poppy husk from Rajasthan at low prices and selling it at higher prices in the city.
A case has been registered at the Amberpet police station under the NDPS Act.
Authorities said that individuals with unstable incomes were often drawn into the drug trade, and urged citizens to report any drug-related activities to H-NEW at 8712661601.
