Senior IPS officer C V Anand today took charge as the new Commissioner of Police of the city.
Addressing media persons on the occasion, he thanked CM K Chandrashekar Rao for appointing him as the CP, and said that maintaining law and order would be his top priority.
He also said that he was happy to be the CP of the city where he grew up as a child, and recalled his previous stints with the city as an IPS officer. He said that when he was the Commissioner of Police of Cyberabad, the commissionerate had taken a lot of measures for the protection of women. He also recalled his stint as the DCP in 2001, and as the Additional Commissioner of Police for Traffic later.
Anand said that he would focus on cyber crimes and on the prevention of drug trafficking and consumption.
Commenting on the upcoming New Year celebrations, he said that the police would follow the orders of the state government on the issue.
