Hyderabad Commissioner of Police C V Anand today prohibited any gathering of five or more persons, processions, dharnas, rallies and public meetings in the city until 6 pm on November 28.
He also prohibited individuals or groups from making speeches or gestures, or displaying pictures, symbols, placards, flags or any type of electronic messages, that were likely to disturb public peace and order.
This is in modification of the notification issued on October 27, 2024, and in light of the imposition of the 163 BNSS in the city.
Anand said that reliable information has been received by the police that several organisations/parties were trying to create disturbances affecting public peace and order in Hyderabad by resorting to dharnas and protests, leading to these orders.
Dharnas and protests are allowed only at the Dharna Chowk near Indira Park, and only if they are kept peaceful. No dharnas or protests are permitted anywhere else in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The following are exempt from the operation of this order:
- Police officers (including Home Guards and SPOs) on duty - Military personnel on duty - Bonafide funeral processions and other permitted processions / religious activities / festivals - Flying squads of the Education Department - Persons or groups duly exempted by the competent authorities
