BRS leader Dr Dasoju Sravan has criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for attempting to change the government symbols, alleging that it undermined public trust and erased the history of Telangana.
In a tweet, Dr Sravan said that public governance could not be treated as a child's play. He said that government symbols could not be changed every time a new administration came into power, and likened that to the erratic rule of Tughlaq. He said that Revanth Reddy's action would set a precedent for the next Chief Minister to introduce yet another new logo. This was not in the public's interest, he said.
Dr Sravan emphasized that any need for change needed to involve convincing and pleasing the public. He insisted that such decisions should not be made solely by the Chief Minister and his close associates, but through a consultative approach involving all sections of society, ideally with discussions in the Assembly. He stressed that in a democracy the Chief Minister was not a king who could act unilaterally, but a chief public servant, and one whose position was not permanent.
