Giving an explanation for his using abusive language against BRS MLAs during the debate on the development of Hyderabad in the Assembly yesterday, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, who had defected from the BRS to the Congress, said today that he got a chance to speak in the House, but the members of the main opposition kept obstructing him.
Speaking at a program on the occasion of the distribution of CMRF cheques at the MLA Quarters in Adarsh Nagar, Nagender said, "I got a chance to speak on the development of Hyderabad in the House. But the BRS members kept obstructing my speech and used filthy language which was not recorded in the mike. I lost my patience and scolded them because of their talking in a way that insulted the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and me."
Nagender had challenged the BRS MLAs to confront him outside the Assembly, and made inflammatory remarks including threats to "peel off their skin" and using the "nee amma" pejorative. The MLA also threatened them that he would not allow them to walk on the streets.
He said that he apologised if anyone was offended by his comments.
Nagender's comments had provoked a strong reaction from the BRS MLAs.
"Since the beginning of the Assembly session, the BRS MLAs have created obstacles to prevent the smooth running of the House. In the last ten years, members like me never got a chance to speak in the Assembly. The BRS MLAs should change their ways by contributing to Telangana's development," Nagender said.
