Demanding the constitution of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Adani issue and condemning the disqualification of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MPs along with those of other opposition parties, including the Congress, TMC and SP, staged a protest near the Gandhi statue on the Parliament premises in New Delhi on Monday.
Sporting black clothes, scarfs and turbans, the MPs raised slogans in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, before the two Houses were adjourned till noon.
They then discussed the way forward on the Adani issue and the aftermath of Gandhi's disqualification from the Lok Sabha.
Speaking on the occasion, BRS Rajya Sabha MP K Keshava Rao said that the BJP-led union government was trying to wash off its hands on the demand for a JPC citing the Supreme Court panel constituted on the Adani group issue.
He also condemned the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Parliament. The move was anti-democratic and against the law, he said.
