Veteran politician and former minister Motkupalli Narasimhulu, who recently
resigned from the BJP, today urged the people of poll-bound Huzurabad to boycott the party's candidate for the upcoming by-election, former minister Etala Rajender, and to extend their support to the TRS instead.
Speaking to the media, the former minister alleged that Rajender was a "corrupt leader" who had acquired 700 acres of land through illegal means, and added that the latter had himself "confessed" that he had usurped 40 acres of land belonging to Dalits.
Narasimhulu then appealed to the Dalit community of the constituency to vote for the pink party in the upcoming elections for the cause of welfare and growth.
He also accused "some leaders" of the Opposition of trying to derail the implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme in Telangana and urged all the parties of the state to welcome the program instead, claiming that it would help empower the the Dalits.
Though the leader resigned from the saffron party just days ago, whispers that he will likely join the TRS very soon have already been doing the rounds. His remarks today suggest that this may just be true.
Narasimhulu, formerly associated with the TDP, had held influential posts in the past. But, after joining the BJP, he was rather unsure about his political future as he was reportedly dissatisfied that the party was not "valuing" him for his political experience and acumen.
He had thought that the party would allow him to hold higher posts in the run-up to the 2023 Assembly elections as it has been trying to establish itself in Telangana.
Former minister and BJP leader Enugala Peddi Reddy
also resigned from the saffron party days after him for similar reasons.
