Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Wednesday instructed his party leaders not to speak about the Telangana issue during the party's plenary session to be held at L B Stadium on December 16.
Addressing a meeting of party leaders of Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts at Gandhi Bhavan, Botsa asked leaders to completely avoid the Telangana issue in the plenary session since, he said, the Centre has already convened an all-party meeting on the issue on December 28. Further, he said that only leaders who have been authorised by him can speak to the media, that too, on certain identified subjects only.
According to sources, Botsa directed the leaders to ensure the participation of 2,000 workers from each Assembly constituency in Hyderabad and 500 workers each from Ranga Reddy district.
Besides former PCC President K Keshava Rao, the meeting was attended by P Sabitha Indira Reddy, J Geetha Reddy, D Sridhar Babu, M Mukesh Goud and B Prasad Kumar, MLAs, MLCs, GHMC corporators (including deputy mayor D Rajkumar) and other leaders.
While MPs were reportedly given exemption from attending Thursday's meeting, Labour Minister and Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president Danam Nagender also abstained from it.
Sources say that Botsa has also discussed the resolutions to be moved in the plenary session. These include a resolution demanding a separate sub-plan for minorities and backward classes on the lines of the SC-ST Sub-Plan.
The PCC Chief also reportedly asked for a report on GHMC floor leader Kaleru Venkatesh's
resignation from the party to join the YSRCP.
Later, Botsa, along with K Keshava Rao and other leaders, visited L B Stadium to review the arrangements for the plenary session. (INN)
