Accepting the demand of Seemandhra ministers and legislators, Pradesh Congress Committee Botsa Satyanarayana, on Sunday, began pursuing the Congress High Command to revise its
decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to reporters, Botsa said that the Congress High Command should reconsider its decision on the bifurcation issue, following the demand being made by Seemandhra leaders. However, he gave clear indications that the Centre might not consider his appeal.
Hinting that the process of formation of a separate Telangana is already in motion, he said that issues like the sharing of resources need in-depth study.
He said that employment and educational opportunities for the Seemandhra population should be considered by the Centre. Further, he added that there should be more clarity on the status of Hyderabad.
Botsa also said that the Congress party would not issue a whip when the Telangana resolution is presented in the Assembly. He said that MLAs would be free to vote as per the sentiments of the people that they represent.
The PCC chief appealed to the people of the Seemandhra region to maintain restraint and peace. He blamed the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress for the present unrest in Seemandhra, and said that both the parties had earlier supported the state's bifurcation.
He also slammed TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao for his alleged provocative statements against Seemandhra employees. He said that such statements "were not becoming of a senior politician like KCR". (INN)
