The Bombay High Court has asked prominent civil rights activist Varavara Rao to surrender to the police by the 25th of this month.
Rao's bail ended on Sunday, and keeping that in mind he approached the HC and urged it to extend the bail.
In his petition, Rao told the HC that it had granted conditional bail to him in February this year, and that he did not violate any of the bail conditions imposed by the court since then. He then told the court that it was difficult for him to stay away from his family at the age of 84, and urged the court to issue orders to enable him to stay with his family in Telangana.
After hearing his petition, the HC asked Rao to be in Mumbai till the 24th of this month, and to surrender to the police before the 25th.
