YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday received a major jolt, with one of its prominent leaders from Kurnool joining the Telugu Desam Party.
Condemning Jagan's style of functioning, senior politician Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy raised a banner of revolt and joined the TDP at NTR Trust Bhavan in the presence of its president N Chandrababu Naidu.
Admitting Chakrapani Reddy into the party, Naidu reportedly assured him that he would be given a ticket from the Srisailam Assembly constituency for the next elections.
Talking to media persons, Chakrapani Reddy said that he had quit YSR Congress Party as he was not happy with Y S Jaganmohan Reddy?s style of functioning.
"There is no freedom in the YSR Congress," he stated.
Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy is the brother of Shilpa Mohan Reddy, a former minister and Congress leader from Kurnool district.
Meanwhile, Kurnool TDP leader Baireddy Rajasekhar Reddy alleged that the Congress and the YSR Congress Party have come to a tacit understanding to politically eliminate the TDP in the state. He said that Jaganmohan Reddy would merge his party with the Congress soon on the lines of Praja Rajyam party chief K Chiranjeevi. (INN)
