Many parts of North Telangana districts on Saturday reeled under the blazing sun. The heat wave conditions left the people almost dazed and forced them to remain indoors.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Nizamabad recorded 45 degrees Celsius; Adilabad and Medak 44 degrees; Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Bhadrachalam, Hanamkonda and Ramagundam 43 degrees; and Hakimpet and Khammam 42 degrees.
Hyderabad recorded a maximum temperature of 42.4 degrees.
While the roads wore a deserted look with the scorching sun, those who ventured out due to unavoidable work were seen taking precautionary measures like wearing scarves and other protective gear to escape the sun's fury. The people also sought relief by thronging cool drink shops, and sugarcane juice and watermelon vendors.
Hospitals have also been receiving a high number of sun-stroke patients every day.
