Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy today urged Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to allot land for the establishment of a "Telangana liberation struggle inspiration centre" in the state.
Reddy wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on the issue.
In his letter, he told the Chief Minister that the central government was ready to build the centre, and that the union tourism minister had promised him funds for the same.
He claimed that it was also the desire of the people of the state to have such a centre replete with the history of the fighters who took part in the Telangana liberation struggle.
He said that several leaders from the state including Komaram Bheem, P V Narasimha Rao, Ramanam Theertha, Marri Channa Reddy, Vandemataram Ramachandra Rao, Narayana Rao Pawar, Dhoddi Komaraiah and Chakala Ailamma took part in the struggle.
The Telangana liberation struggle is a hot potato for the TRS since it essentially involves celebrating the defeat of Muslim rulers, and that might alienate the AIMIM, a strong and powerful TRS ally, and the Muslim vote, which the TRS courts aggressively.
