Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in five States in the coming months, and the BJP is focusing on these five states. The high command is particularly busy giving a boost to the Telangana BJP, where the cadre is confused by the factional war among its State leaders. Amid speculation that a change in leadership is inevitable, the BJP's rank and file has been eagerly waiting for good news for a week now.
The party high command is making political moves in Delhi to check the factional war, and strengthen the party and remove the confusion in the cadre. It appears that major changes are likely in the leadership towards this effect.
It is learnt that the party is planning to hand over the reins of the Telangana BJP chief post to D K Aruna, the party's national vice-president. The decision has reportedly been taken after considering the names of several people. It is also being reported that current State party president Bandi Sanjay will be inducted into the union cabinet. And party MLA Etala Rajender has been given the responsibility of campaigning. He has already stepped into the field and started work.
The BJP high command is continuing its discussions with the State party leaders by summoning them to Delhi over the past fortnight. Union home minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Khammam on June 15. Clarity on the leadership changes is likely to come before his scheduled visit.
