The ruling TRS party's activists today obstructed the ongoing padayatra of Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar at Vemula village of Itikyala mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal district.
The TRS activists entered into verbal arguments with the BJP activists, and that escalated into the two sets of activists attacking each other with sticks.
The police had a hard to time controlling the battling activists, and some of the warring activists fell on to the ground during the attacks.
BJP leader D K Aruna then entered the scene and pacified the activists of her party.
While some TRS activists tried to stop Sanjay from going ahead, the police prevented them from doing so, and took the activists to a different place.
The BJP activists raised anti-KCR slogans later. The padayatra soon resumed.
Speaking to media persons later, Aruna claimed that the TRS activists had attacked them and tried to stop their padayatra as they were not able to digest the public response being received by Sanjay.
She also alleged that the TRS activists had resorted to even stone-pelting on the BJP's activists, and that the police did not respond to the attacks even though they took place right in their presence. She lamented that five vehicles of the BJP's leaders were damaged during the attacks.
