BJP Telangana president and MP B Sanjay Kumar on Saturday came down heavily on his party's arch rival and MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi for criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 9-minute blackout call on April 5.
Addressing a gathering in Hyderabad, Kumar said that the criticism of the program by Owaisi had exposed the latter's narrow-mindedness and religious bias.
He said that the PM had given a call to show the unity of the country and its solidarity with and gratitude for the doctors. Some people were attacking doctors and paramedical staff working at great personal risk, across the country, and Modi's call was intended to give a huge thank you to the medical fraternity.
Owaisi however did not know how to thank the doctors, only communal politics. He dared Owaisi to stop the physical attacks on the doctors of the state if he could. He also pointed out that Owaisi had not given his hospital for the treatment of patients suffering from the coronavirus.
Sanjay exhorted the people of the country to take part in the initiative despite the utterings of people like Owaisi.
Another BJP leader and former minister D K Aruna too criticised Owaisi. She said that the MIM boss was insulting Hindu culture and tradition with his criticism of Modi's call to people to light lamps to fight the corona crisis.
She also accused Owaisi of not supporting the corona lockdown and not extending thanks to the doctors risking their lives to fight the corona crisis, and said that he needed to stop his communal and political comments at least when the nation was in the corona grip.
