BJP, TDP Should Earn Special Status For AP: Loksatta

The party asked what the two Union ministers and 25 MPs of the TDP were doing if they were unable to get special status for Andhra Pradesh.

The Loksatta Party today said that it was the responsibility of the BJP and the TDP to get special status for Andhra Pradesh.

"BJP should keep its word of according Special Status to AP, and the TDP should continue its pressure on the Centre to get the status," Loksatta Party State president Dr Pattabhiramaiah and general secretary Bhisetti Babji demanded.

In the wake of Union minister Inderjit Singh commenting in the Lok Sabha that no state would be accorded Special Status hereafter, the Loksatta leaders said that the people of AP would not keep quiet if the Centre denied the state its right.

Demanding concessions in taxes, and special packages for the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, the duo asked what the two Union ministers and 25 MPs of the TDP were doing if they were unable to get special status for AP.
