The YSR Congress chief reiterated that they voted to split Andhra Pradesh, that Naidu does not keep promises, and that their promises are not doable.
Continuing his blistering attack on the BJP-TDP alliance, and its "sidekick" party (the Jana Sena), YSR Congress Party leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said the combination is not interested in the welfare of the people, but is concerned only with votes and seats. He said that those parties came in like migratory birds only during the elections, but the YSRCP had been with the people all the time, and had taken up many issues protesting against the government.
Addressing a road show at Jaggayapeta in Krishna district on Saturday, Jagan said, "Just one hour after the elections in Telangana were over, the leaders of the BJP, the TDP, and their sidekick party emerged on a dais in Tirupati seeking votes in the name of development, and blaming Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for the division of the state. The truth is known to the people of the region, and I appeal to all of you to reject such divisive and unethical forces, and vote for the YSRCP's fan symbol to shape a welfare state.
"It was the Congress, the BJP and the TDP that voted in Parliament in favour of a separate state for Telangana, and BJP floor leader Sushma Swaraj went to the Telangana region seeking her share of votes for giving support to the Telangana Bill. 'If Sonia is mata, I am your mausi, and the people should acknowledge our commitment to Telangana,' she had said in her campaign.
"Chandrababu Naidu on the other hand toured Telangana, and boasted that Telangana was possible only with the unconditional letter he had given agreeing for a separate state.
"Close on the heels of the polling coming to an end in Telangana, the BJP and the TDP, and their sidekick leaders, pick up the Seemandhra tune and speak blatant and stark lies stating that Jaganmohan Reddy was responsible for the division of the state.
"The opportunism and double speak of the gang has come into the open in the string of public meetings the leaders addressed from Tirupati to Visakhapatnam, wherein they bluffed on development and welfare, and defaced facts and figures.
"The same BJP-TDP combination that is promising to bring heaven to Seemandhra was in power at the Centre and at State from 1999 to 2004. These promises did not cross their minds then. They did not think of Polavaram, Pulichintala, Galeru-Nagari and Hundri-Neva then.
"Modi has been asking you to vote for the TDP so that the 1,000km coastline can be developed. The extent of the coastline was the same during 1999-2004, but there was no such talk then, and not a single project was brought in to the State then.
"Making promises in the times of elections and forgetting them later has been their wont. Modi speaks of abundant resources of gas in the region which can be used for developing the State, but never tells what the State's share will be.
"The Sonia Gandhi-led Congress, the BJP and the TDP had voted in Parliament in favour of a separate state. These parties have no love or affection for you but are single-mindedly interested in votes and seats.
"Chandrababu Naidu is promising to waive Rs. 1.5 lakh crores of farm and DWACRA loans while the State budget itself is Rs. 1.25 crores. The farmer loans in the state were pegged at Rs. 1.27 crores at a bankers' meet. The TDP leader has always been found wanting in implementing his poll promises.
"I have inherited the legacy of YSR who never went back on his word. The 5 files I will be signing after assuming power and the 6 other promises I have made will change the course of the State. For that, we need numbers to have a say in the Union Government, and I appeal to you to vote for the YSRCP's fan symbol and elect all 25 MPs from the region to pave the way for a welfare state," he said.
