The Telangana BJP today slammed CM K Chandrashekar Rao over his announcement of 10% reservations for the tribals of the State.
Party MP Dr K Laxman asked the CM why he did not provide 10% reservations to the tribals in his eight-year-long rule if it was possible for him to implement them by simply issuing a GO.
Speaking to mediapersons after inaugurating a photo exhibition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the State party headquarters, Dr Laxman alleged that the CM was enacting a drama on the issue. He said that the States had complete freedom in the implementation of reservations. He also asked the CM if all categories of the reservations being provided by the State government had the approval of the union government.
Laxman also pointed out that reservations had been increased in undivided AP with the single stroke of a pen during the rule of former CM N T Rama Rao.
He claimed that KCR had brought the issue of the 10% tribal reservations to the limelight keeping in view the upcoming by-elections in the Munugodu Assembly constituency, and that the CM was enacting a drama to cheat the voters of Munugodu.
Making it clear that it was the responsibility of the State government to not only increase the reservations but also implement them, he warned that the BJP would fight against the State government if it failed to discharge the two duties.
Commenting on the announcement of the Girijana Bandhu scheme by the CM, he said that no Bandhu scheme would save KCR from facing a defeat in the next Assembly elections in Telangana.
Claiming that the TRS and the Congress were one and the same, he said that the people were with Prime Minister Narendra Modi notwithstanding the conspiracies of the BJP's political rivals.
