Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar today demanded that the state government provide incentives to doctors and other healthcare staff who "have been providing treatment to Covid-patients since last year".
Speaking after visiting the district hospital at Karimnagar, he said, "The health workers in our state should be given better incentives, at par with the incentives provided by the Tamil Nadu government. So many doctors and frontline warriors have lost their lives since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is then the duty of the government to come forward to support them through this challenging time. However, instead of supporting the health workers, the TRS regime has been neglecting them. It is a shame that a doctor from Warangals's MGM Hospital, Dr Shoba Rani, could not even get a bed for her treatment."
Kumar also asked the government why it was not "taking inspiration" from the other states of the nation in providing Covid-19 treatment to the public, and added, "The state government should think about the reluctance being demonstrated by doctors and paramedical staff to apply for jobs despite the issuance of a recruitment notification that aims to fill 50,000 posts."
He then appealed to the people of the state to follow all the
lockdown rules to help contain the pandemic from spreading further, and demanded that the TRS government extend its help to all those who were facing
potential livelihood issues due to the implementation of the ten-day lockdown.
