GHMC Delimitation Anti-People Exercise: BJP
The party said the expansion was aimed at securing large foreign loans rather than improving governance, and that the government was trying to centralise control.

The BJP today strongly objected to the State government's GHMC delimitation draft, which proposed expanding the municipal limits, merging surrounding municipalities, and increasing the number of divisions from 150 to 300.
Members of the BJP's Delimitation Monitoring Committee met the GHMC Commissioner and raised serious concerns over "flaws and inconsistencies" in the draft.
The delegation included former MLA N V S S Prabhakar, BJP State general secretary Dr Gautam Rao, former mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, and party leaders Srikanth, Bhanu Prakash, Mahender and Radha Dheeraj Reddy.
Talking to newsmen later, Prabhakar said that the final list of 300 divisions was riddled with errors. He alleged that some divisions fell under two Assembly constituencies, while others extended across two revenue districts.
"Is population the criterion, is area the criterion, or is voter strength the basis? Officials failed to give clear answers," he claimed.
The BJP leader also alleged that the draft appeared to have been prepared by a private survey agency rather than the GHMC itself, leaving even officials confused. He also said that despite nearly 10,000 public objections and suggestions, no meaningful corrections had been made. He said that the expansion was aimed at securing large foreign loans rather than improving governance, and accused the government of attempting to centralise control to "Darussalam and Gandhi Bhavan".
Prabhakar said that BJP would launch a public movement against the "anti-people and disorganised" delimitation process and expose the government's actions before the people.
