Several Telangana BJP leaders were taken into preventive custody today when they tried to stage a dharna in front of the GHMC office in the Tankbund area demanding the fulfillment of the double bedroom scheme promise made by the TRS government.
BJP Telangana State President K Lakshman, Party floor leader G Kishan Reddy, MLAs, Party City President Venkat Reddy and some ex-MLAs were among those taken into custody by the Police.
Speaking to the media earlier, Lakshman said that KCR failed to keep up his election promise of providing free double bedroom houses to poor people. Despite the Centre granting funds for the construction of one lakh double bedroom houses, the State government failed to implement the scheme.
Taking a dig at TRS MP Kavitha for alleging that the Centre was not releasing funds for the scheme, Laxman challenged Kavitha for an open debate on the funds provided to Telangana by the Modi government.
Khairatabad BJP MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy said that except at the IDPL, the State government had not constructed any new double bedroom houses under the scheme in Hyderabad in the past two and a half year regime.
