Telangana State BJP Legislature Party leader G Kishan Reddy said that his party State president Dr K Laxman today launched a Vimochana Yatra to mount pressure on the TRS government to conduct the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations officially.
On Friday, Laxman and Kishan Reddy performed special pujas at the Sri Kanakadurgamma Ammavaaru temple at the Basheerbagh crossroads first.
From there, the BJP leaders proceeded in a rally and participated in a public meeting at the RTC Kala Bhavan.
Later, the rally proceeded to the statue of Sardar Patel opposite the Assembly building, and garlanded the statue and paid tributes to the Martyrs Memorial Stupam.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was not interested in organizing the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations officially to appease the MIM for political gains.
He also said that the Chief Minister was hobnobbing with the MIM, which was dead against the creation of a separate Telangana state.
He asked the people to come along with Laxman to participate in the Telangana Vimochana Yatra. BJP MLC Ramchender Rao, MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy and others participated.
Speaking at the RTC Kala Bhavan, Dr Laxman said that the present TRS government was treading the same path as the previous governments so that the Telangana people would forget their history. Calling that a shame, he reminded that KCR had said that not celebrating the Liberation Day in Telangana was an affront to the self-respect of Telangana people, and that once statehood for Telangana was attained the same would be celebrated officially.
Dr Laxman demanded how the state government had now yielded to the MIM, which had opposed statehood for Telangana tooth and nail.
He said that through the Vimochana Yatra, the BJP would create awareness of the issue and get people to question the state government by bringing to their notice the double standards of the TRS government.
MLA N V S S Prabhakar, BJP National Executive Member Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Perala Sekhar Rao, Nallu Indrasena Reddy, S V Seshagiri Rao, T Achari, Chinta Sambamurthy, G Manohar Reddy, Manthri Srinivasulu, N Srivardhan Reddy and others participated.
