Kishan Reddy Slams TRS-MIM Proposed Alliance
The BJP Telangana President said that by aligning with the MIM, the TRS would be insulting both the people of Telangana and the Hindu gods.
Hyderabad | 24th May 2014
Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy on Saturday strongly condemned the proposed alliance between the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy described the MIM as a communal and anti-Telangana party that had openly opposed the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in the Assembly and in the Parliament.
By sending a party delegation to the MIM leader's house to discuss the alliance, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao had insulted the people of Telangana, he alleged.
He also reminded people that a prominent MIM leader had insulted the Hindu gods in one of his public speeches.
By aligning with the MIM, the TRS would therefore be insulting both the people of Telangana and the Hindu gods, he said.
Reddy added that the MIM was dominated by rowdy sheeters, and that its members were accused of attacking government doctors, GHMC staff and others.
He said that the MIM had been rejected by the Muslim community too in the recently held elections, and that it remained confined to the Old City of Hyderabad.
The BJP leader also opposed the inclusion of Charminar in the official logo of the Telangana government.
Reddy claimed that the Muslims in the Telangana and the Seemandhra regions had voted for the BJP. He said that the victory of the BJP-TDP combine from Musheerabad, Amberpet, Sanathnagar, Khairtabad, Jubilee Hills and the other constituencies was clear proof that the Muslims had voted for the BJP, and that they sought development on par with the other areas.
Stating that the MIM was not the sole representative of the Muslims in Telangana, he alleged that the MIM MLAs and MP had brought no development in the areas that they represented.
He also announced that the BJP would participate in the Telangana Formation Day celebrations that would be organised by the Telangana Political JAC from June 1 onwards. (INN)
