The BJP high command has announced Dr T N Vamsa Tilak as the party's candidate for the by-election for the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly constituency seat.

The seat fell vacant following the death of the BRS MLA Lasya Nanditha in a road accident.

The Congress and the BRS have already announced their candidates for the by-election - Narayanan Sri Ganesh is the Congress candidate, and Lasya Niveditha, Nanditha's sister, is the BRS candidate.

The by-election will be held on May 13, along with the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana.
