The BJP candidates for the Telangana Assembly elections in Hyderabad suffered a major setback with senior party leaders, including the BJP state president K Laxman and two-time MLA G Kishan Reddy losing to their TRS rivals in the Musheerabad and the Amberpet constituencies respectively.
Other senior BJP leaders including Chintala Rama Chandra Reddy and MLC Ramchander Rao have also failed to secure a win in the Khairatabad and the Malkajgiri Assembly constituencies respectively.
Former MLA from Uppal N V S S Prabhakar too could not manage a win, and ended up third in the race behind Bethi Subhas Reddy of the TRS and Tulla Veerender Goud of the TDP.
The only saving grace for the party was Raja Singh, who succeeded in retaining the Goshamahal Assembly seat for a second term after a tough fight with Prem Singh Rathore of the TRS.
