The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday alleged that some rival party candidates were 'turning the streets of Nizamabad into rivers of liquor', and beseeched the Election Commission to direct officials to curb the distribution of alcohol into the assembly constituency scheduled to go for elections on July 27.
Leading a delegation of BJP workers, party state secretary Ramachandra Rao also said that the Returning Officer of Nizamabad Urban Assembly constituency was not allowing his party workers to put up banners and cutouts.
Ramachandra Rao urged Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao to grant permission to his party for putting up banners and cutouts.
The BJP leader further said that the Election Commission has not yet confirmed the location of 36 polling booths in the constituency. He requested the EC to do so as soon as possible.
