BJP Assures Flood Damage Reimbursement To AP
Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that the Centre would reimburse Andhra Pradesh for the losses incurred during the ongoing floods.

After conducting an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in the Guntur district today, Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu, who was accompanied by Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas, said that the Centre would provide all necessary assistance to Andhra Pradesh to help the State recover from the aftermath of the heavy rains that had been lashing it for several weeks.
He flew over Pedanandipadu, Gurazala, Macherla and other villages in the region and inspected the damaged crops and overflowing rivulets and streams.
As per reports, several crops, including paddy, have been flooded and destroyed. Standing crops, mostly chilli, turmeric and cotton, also have suffered extensive damage in over 41,000 hectares of land in the Guntur district.
Naidu spoke to the Guntur District Collector and asked him to ensure all necessary provisions including food and drinking water to the people in the rain-hit areas, and assured him that the State would reimburse the collectorate.
The union minister said that a Central government team would visit the State after receiving a report from the AP government detailing the losses incurred during the floods, and would communicate with the Centre asking it to release the funds for reimbursement.
