CM Urges PM To Declare Rain In Telangana As National Calamity
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today urged PM Narendra Modi to declare the damages caused in Telangana by the heavy rains as a national calamity.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the damages caused mainly to the crops and lives in Telangana by the heavy rains as a national calamity.
The Chief Minister directed Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to write a letter requesting the Prime Minister to visit the flood-hit areas in Telangana which suffered huge losses of lives, crops and property.
At a review on the floods and relief operations with senior officers at the Command Control Centre, he also enquired of the Meteorological Department (IMD) the reasons for the very heavy rains in a very short time and the rain forecast for the next few days.
He also announced that the ex-gratia to the family of each of the deceased in the heavy rains and floods had been increased from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
The compensation for each milking cattle loss has also been increased to Rs 50,000 from Rs 30,000. Similarly, the State government would provide Rs 5,000 as compensation as against Rs 3,000 for the loss of each goat or sheep, he said.
Later, the Chief Minister inspected a photo exhibition on the crop damage at Mothe village in Suryapet district and attended the district review meeting. He enquired about the loss of crops due to the breach of Nagarjuna Sagar's left canal. Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy, and elected representatives from the erstwhile Nalgonda district accompanied the Chief Minister.
On the occasion, Revanth Reddy announced Rs 5 crore in immediate assistance to Suryapet district. After that, the Chief Minister inspected the Paleru left canal and the damaged crop fields in teh Paleru Assembly constituency of Khammam district. He also inspected the flood-affected colonies of Munneru canal and spoke to the victims. Later, a review meeting was held at the district Collectorate where he reviewed the flood situation in the district.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, some MLAs and top officials were present.
