BJLP leader Maheswar Reddy today said that even after six months of the formation of the Congress government in Telangana, the party's promises were still not being implemented.
He said that he had written a letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy three days ago on the same issue.
He pointed out that AP CM Chandrababu Naidu had signed five files related to his electoral promises within hours of coming to power in Andhra Pradesh.
Among them was a file authorising an increase in old age pensions from Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000, he said. He reminded Revanth Reddy of his own promise to hike the old age pension to Rs 4,000 in Telangana, and asked him to learn from the neighbouring State. He pointed out that Naidu was fulfilling his promises even though AP was in financial crisis.
Maheshwar Reddy also said that the AP CM had promised to give Rs 7,000 per head as pending pension along with the new pension in AP. He said that in Telangana a pension of Rs 12,000 per head needed to be given likewise to all the elderly people, as six months' pending unpaid pension.
Reddy also said that the books distributed in government schools for students in classes from 1 to 10 were being taken back, and said that it would put another burden on the State exchequer. He said that books containing the portrait of the previous Chief Minister were given to the children in AP, and that Telangana could do the same.
