Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party Legislative Party (BJLP) in Telangana, was today arrested by the Hyderabad police.
The arrest occurred as Reddy attempted to support activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) who were protesting against the State government's decision to auction 400 acres of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) land.
The BJYM activists tried to storm the Assembly premises opposing the land auction, prompting police intervention.
Reddy joined the protesters in a show of solidarity, leading to his detention alongside several BJYM members.
Following their arrest, they were transported to a police station.
Reddy expressed his discontent over being confined in the vehicle for two hours without explanation, and demanded the immediate release of the detained BJYM activists.
The situation remains fluid, with further developments anticipated as both sides navigate the complexities of this contentious issue.
