Senior Congress leader Palvai Govardhan on Thursday said that there are many bigwigs involved in corruption in carrying out works on the Jalayagnam Projects.
Talking to media persons, Palvai said that Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah is but a 'small-guy' when compared to the 'bigwigs' who are indulging in widespread corruption in the works on the Jalayagnam Projects.
He also made it clear that he, along with other senior leaders from the Congress party, will go to New Delhi and apprise the high command about the goings-on in the Jalayagnam Projects.
The senior leader refuted media reports that he backtracked from filing a complaint with Governor E S L Narasimhan against Ponnala after Party In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Veerappa Moily ordered him to do so.
He said that he is not afraid of Moily and would not have backtracked on his decision to complain. The senior leader said that Moily had spoken to him only to ask for his support for the forthcoming by-elections.
Palvai said he had met the governor to seek his direction on the Polavaram project and to get the designs changed.
The leader said that officials have brushed aside V Hanumantha Rao's designs on the project, though they were better than those of the engineers. He said that he had submitted a memorandum to implement VH's designs so that no person from any of the 3 regions will be at loss.
When questioned about the need to approach the governor, Palvai replied saying that there was no reason not to meet him as the governor isn't suffering from any contagious disease.
