Jalayagnam To Be Completed In 2 Years
Chief Minister K Rosaiah to complete projects under Jalayagnam Irrigation Projects within 2 years

Directing the irrigation officials to be alert in the wake of dams receiving massive flows of waters, the Chief Minister K Rosaiah said, on Sunday, that the government would take all measures to complete the projects taken up under Jalayagnam Irrigation Projects.
Talking to media persons after conducting a review meeting with Ministers and officials concerned through a teleconference from the Secretariat, Rosaiah said that the government had planned to complete 48 irrigation projects in the next 2 years under the Jalayagnam projects.
The CM said that the schemes, once completed, would provide additional irrigation facility to 38 lakh hectares of land.
Reiterating that the government would implement YSR's schemes in letter and spirit, Rosaiah said since the launch of Jalayagnam in 6 years, 26 lakh hectares had been brought under irrigation facilities.
Rosaiah said that the government had spent Rs. 48,500 crores on Jalayagnam in the 3 regions of the state, and Rs. 12,846 crores were needed to complete the remaining 43 projects under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme.
The Chief Minister advised people to utilize water judiciously and make efforts to avoid wastage.
The CM added that the government had planned a strategy on Vamsadhara and Polavaram projects as Orissa had filed a case in the Supreme court.
Rosaiah said that the Central Technical Advisory Council had given approval for the 3rd phase of the Devadula project and that for this, the government would get a Rs. 2,000 crore grant under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme.
Irrigation Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah, Chief Secretary SV Prasad, CM's Chief Secretary C V S K Sharma, Irrigation Secretary S K Joshi and Secretaries Adityanath Das and S R Mishra took part in the teleconference.
