The Bharat Bandh call given against the Agnipath recruitment scheme in the armed forces evoked little to no response in Telangana, with no protest visible.
There weren't any untoward incidents reported, either.
The traffic flow was normal, and all shops and business establishments remained open. All government offices, banks and educational institutions also functioned as usual, and attendance in government and private offices remained normal.
Even though many trains were cancelled in precautionary measures, buses belonging to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) operated normally.
As a measure of abundant precaution, deployment of security forces was made at most key locations, and strict vigil was maintained across the State. Section 144 was imposed on the premises of the union government offices to prevent any protests by Army job aspirants.
The railway police also kept tight vigil at all the major railway stations in the wake of the June 17 violence at the Secunderabad railway station. There was high security at the Secunderabad, Nampally and Kacheguda stations in Hyderabad, and in the Kazipet, Mancherial and other major stations in the rest of Telangana.
Although the bandh was not formally called for by any political party, the call made on the social media by a large number of people found traction, resulting in the precautions and state of vigil.
