Congress To Hold Satyagraha To "Expose" Centre

The party intends to support the Agnipath agitation to the fullest extent.
Hyderabad | 19th June 2022
The TPCC has decided to hold a "satyagraha deeksha" following instructions from the AICC and party supremo Sonia Gandhi.

Revealing the details of the program, former minister Dr J Geeta Reddy said that the party would hold the deeksha (agitation) to expose the Centre and its failure in the people's court.

Targeting the union government, she alleged that it was playing with the lives of the youth of the country in the name of the Agnipath scheme by imposing its will directly instead of holding a discussion on the scheme in Parliament.

She said that Agnipath was turning soldiers into contract hires and putting the security of the country at risk. She added that it was gross injustice to restrict service to just four years, and that the scheme was meant only to reduce the burden of pensions being paid to soldiers. She demanded that the union government withdraw the controversial scheme like it did the three farm laws.

For good measure, she also alleged that Prime Minister Modi introduced schemes only to benefit his friends Adani and Ambani. She claimed that the Modi government was mounting pressure on the Sri Lanka government to help Modi's friend Adani, and that the Sri Lankan people were opposing the entry of Adani into their country and were holding agitations on the roads against the proposed move of the Sri Lankan government.

Targeting the TRS government, she asked the ruling party leaders on what basis they had kept their party's flag on the body of Rakesh, who had died in police shooting at the Secunderabad railway station.
