Accusing Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu of failing to honour his word and support the separate Telangana statehood movement, senior party leader and Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday said that he has decided to part ways with the TDP.
Talking to media persons, the 3-time MLA, who had also served as a minister during Naidu's tenure, likened the Telangana people's fight for a separate state to NTR's movement launched to fight for Telugu pride.
Pocharam Srinivas apprehended that as long as Naidu is at its helm, the TDP would not take to fulfilling the aspirations of Telangana people.
Giving a clear indication of where he was headed, Pocharam said that though the Congress would stand by the promise of caving a separate Telangana, the desires and aspirations of people will be fulfilled only by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
He said that he would send his resignation letter to the party president in a couple of days and join the TRS soon.
Meanwhile, another Telugu Desam MLA from Choppadandi, Suddala Devaiah, and Jukkal MLA Hanumanth Shinde, are reported to have had a rethink on their plans of joining the TRS. According to sources, the 2 will stay back in the TDP and fight for the cause of Telangana.
