Karwan MLA Obstructs GHMC Squad From Felling Wall

Karwan MLA Kausar Moinuddin today created a scene at Banjara Hills when GHMC officials and workers came to demolish an illegal construction.

The GHMC staff were destroying an illegal wall on Road No 3 that was blocking a road. They had destroyed the wall, and were then pulling down a gate, when Kausar came down with his followers and started abusing the workers and drivers, obstructing them and eventually chasing them off.

The area does not come under Kausar's constituency, and he does not own any property in the vicinity that would be affected. He was apparently there at the behest of a friend who was getting affected by the demolition. Apparently the road was originally part of a group housing project, but once the owners of the houses obtained individual building permissions for additions and alterations to the existing building, the group housing scheme status ceased and the internal 30-ft road became GHMC property.

A lady called Jhansi Sureddy complained some time back that the road was the only approach to her property, and that the wall constructed across it was blocking access to her property, and so the GHMC decided to demolish it.

However one of the owners in the original group housing project called up Kausar, and the latter came down and muscled out the GHMC staff.

It remains to be seen if the GHMC has the spine to file a complaint against the MLA - obstructing a government official from carrying out his duties is a non-bailable offence.
