Bangaru Telangana Is The Next Goal: KCR

Telangana Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrashekar Rao exhorted the TRS cadre to strive hard to achieve the party's new goal of turning the State into "Bangaru Telangana" (golden Telangana).

Addressing the party's first plenary session after the formation of Telangana and after the TRS coming to power in June last year, Rao asked the workers and leaders to re-dedicate themselves to the cause of Bangaru Telangana.

Stating that the state government was moving in the right direction, he wanted the TRS to act as a catalyst, and as a bridge between the people and the government.

He listed out all the achievements of the TRS government during the last 10 months.

KCR recalled the role played by the martyrs and the TRS activists in achieving statehood for Telangana. He said that the TRS activists had fought and won a tough battle on the streets of Hyderabad and also Delhi.

He said that the TRS government was taking care of the welfare of all sections of the society. Besides increasing the pension amount, it had launched several new schemes for various sections that had remained ignored during the previous regimes of the Congress and TDP.

He said that special focus has been laid on the welfare and growth of SCs, STs, BCs, minorities and other weaker sections of Telangana.

The Chief Minister reiterated that he wouldn't seek votes if he failed to provide safe drinking water to all households before the next elections. He said that no other party in the country could make such a daring announcement.

He also assured that the promised 1 lakh jobs to the youth would be a reality soon.

He also explained the status of schemes like Water Grid and Mission Kakatiya.

He asked the party cadre to extend their cooperation in making the Haritha Haram scheme a success to turn Telangana into a green zone by planting 120 crore saplings. He also expressed confidence that Telangana would be a power surplus state in the next three years.

KCR assured relief to the farmers hit by the recent unseasonal rains. He said that reports had been sought from all District Collectors, and adequate compensation would be paid to all the affected farmers.

He claimed that the state government had overcome the energy crisis, and soon it would resolve the irrigation woes, too.

Earlier in the day, KCR reached the L B Stadium after paying tributes to the martyrs of Telangana at Gun Park. He then hoisted the party flag.

Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy then announced KCR's re-election as the party's president for the eighth consecutive term.

Ministers, legislators and other senior leaders addressed the plenary session. As many as 12 different resolutions were also passed during the session which was attended by about 40,000 delegates from across Telangana. (INN)
