Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay today accused the Congress government of playing high drama in the name of HYDRA to divert the attention of the people from its failure to implement the promises made to them in the run-up to the Assembly elections.
He said that he was losing confidence in HYDRA from the way it had been behaving in the last few days. He said that he had first supported HYDRA when buildings, villas and farmhouses built illegally by powerful people were demolished, but now the common man was also being harassed by the anti-encroachment agency, with its officials demolishing the houses of the poor.
"There's no question of staying quiet anymore. The way HYDRA is behaving is not right. Why these high dramas? Why was permission given in the first place for illegal buildings and houses in FTLs and buffer zones, and why demolish them now?" he asked.
Sanjay was speaking in a membership drive organized by the Karimnagar district unit of the BJP, which he participated in along with Adilabad MLA Payala Shankar, district president Gangadi Krishna Reddy, former MLA Bodige Shobha and BJP legal cell State leader Antony Reddy.
Sanjay claimed that the BJP was the only party that worked for the country, and that it had created a world record by registering 18 crore members. He added that the high command had decided to induct another 10 crore people as members this time.
"In Telangana itself, 77 lakh people cast their votes in the Lok Sabha elections. There is a need to include all of them as members of the BJP. And the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency should be at the top of membership registration. For that to happen, high memberships need to be registered in every polling booth. I will felicitate the polling booth committees which register the highest numbers," he said.
