Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar today held a meeting with other party leaders at the saffron party's headquarters in Hyderabad to work out the modalities of his upcoming padayatra, scheduled to start on August 9.
At the meeting, he asked his senior colleagues for their suggestions on the organisation and implementation of the same.
Speaking about the proposed padayatra's purpose, Kumar claimed that Telangana was witnessing conditions akin to those prevalent in India during the Quit India movement and said that the main objectives of the yatra were to "teach a befitting lesson" to the TRS government by achieving a democratic Telangana and to gain insight into the problems being faced by the people of the state.
He expressed his hope that the yatra would be a step towards nudging the "autocratic rule of the TRS" towards its end.
Reports suggest that the firebrand leader has decided to constitute a 25-member committee to ensure the "grand success" of the padayatra. He has, reportedly, also decided to appoint a padayatra in-charge and two to three co-in-charges.
Further, it is being said that the BJP leadership has prepared an action plan for the upcoming by-election in Huzurabad and has decided to invite several national leaders and union Ministers from the party for the padayatra in hopes of mobilising support for itself ahead of the electoral contest.
Many important leaders of the party, including Etala Rajender, A P Jithender Reddy, D K Aruna, Vijayashanti, and MLAs M Raghunandan Rao, A Chandrasekhar Swami Goud, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, and G Vivek, took part in the meeting.
Kumar's padayatra will begin from the Charminar-based Bhagyalakshmi temple next month.
