Bandh Disrupts Normal Life In Bhadrachalam

Protests, dharnas and "rasta roko" agitations were held at many places, opposing the proposal to merge Bhadrachalam into the Seemandhra region.
Hyderabad | 19th November 2013
Normal life in Bhadrachalam, in Khammam district, came to a halt on Tuesday, following a bandh call given by pro-Telangana parties, opposing the proposal to merge Bhadrachalam division into the Seemandhra region.

All shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed, while public transportation was badly affected across the district.

Protests, dharnas and "rasta roko" agitations were held at many places, opposing the proposal.

The Khammam Joint Action Committee demanded that there should not be any change in the status of Bhadrachalam after the bifurcation of AP, and that it should remain an integral part of Telangana.

It may be mentioned that a 72-hour shut down was observed in Bhadrachalam division till Monday midnight, and was later followed by a Khammam district bandh. (INN)
