Union Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on Sunday stated that Bhadrachalam will be part of the Seemandhra region if the division of Andhra Pradesh becomes inevitable.
Speaking to media persons after participating in the Rachabanda programme at Polavaram in West Godavari district, Kavuri expressed confidence that the state would remain divided.
However, in case of division, Bhadrachalam will be made part of Seemandhra region, he stated.
Earlier, Kavuri faced the ire of Samiakyandhra activits who tried to attack his convoy during the Rachabanda programme.
However, police swung into action and took some activists into custody.
Kavuri also said that the ministers from the Seemandhra region would present their views before the Group of Ministers (GoM) on November 18, and would strongly oppose the division of the state.
Further, he said that efforts would be made to get a National Project status for the Polavaram project. (INN)
