As part of his attempts to garner the support of leaders of national parties on the issue of construction across river Godavari as part of the Babli project by the Maharashtra government, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday met Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav.
According to reports, Naidu urged Yadav to lend his support to the TDP's fight over the issue.
The TDP chief is believed to have apprised the JDU leader of the arrest and subsequent detention by the Maharashtra government of his team and the treatment meted out by the police.
He is also believed to have sought Yadav's support in protecting the rightful share of waters due to the state. He said that Andhra Pradesh, being a lower riparian state, is losing out to upper riparian states like Maharashtra and Karnataka.
