According to information reaching here, four TDP supporters were injured in the lathi-charge. Some media persons also received lathi blows.
The protestors were caned after they tried to force their way across the inter-state border into Dharmabad in Nanded district of Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, across the border, activists of the 'Babli Samrakshana Samiti' were also caned by the police when they tried to gherao the Dharmabad ITI, in which the detained TDP president and the members of his team are lodged.
The activists were protesting against Mr Naidu's firm stance to inspect the 14 barrages constructed across the Godavari river.
Mr. Naidu has been lodged at the ITI since Friday when he was arrested for his attempt to reach the site of the Babli Irrigation Project.
He had refused to take bail, following which he and his team were remanded to a 2-day judicial custody.
The situation between the TDP team and the Maharashtra government is currently at a stalemate, as the TDP team is refusing to leave until it is allowed to inspect the Babli site, while the government is adamant in its refusal.
