Baba Ramdev Meets Chandrababu Naidu

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Tuesday sought the support of the Telugu Desam Party in his fight against corruption and to bring back black money stashed abroad, during his meeting with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.

After meeting Naidu at his residence, Baba Ramdev told media persons that he had met the former Chief Minister as part of efforts to garner support for his agitation against corruption. The yoga guru said he would be launching the second phase of his agitation in August.

"By preventing corruption and bringing back black money, the government can implement many development programs for people's benefit," Baba Ramdev said.

"My aim is not political power. I want political purity. I am continuing my fight against rampant corruption and black money as a responsible citizen. I am a sadhu but I am a patriot, and will work for the development of the country till my last breath," he said.

"My aim is to eradicate corruption. This is possible only with the support of political parties, as it is us who have elected political leaders," he said.

"I have seen purity in Chandrababu Naidu. That is why I have sought the support of Naidu in my fight against corruption," he said.

Hailing Baba Ramdev's fight against corruption, Naidu, on his part said he would extend total support to the yoga guru's agitation.

He asked why Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not responding to former telecom minister A Raja's allegation of his involvement in the 2G spectrum scam.

When asked why the TDP was targeting YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, Naidu said, "We have been raising the issue ever since corruption started during former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's rule, and have not specifically targeted Jaganmohan Reddy." (INN)
