Baahubali, the much-publicised period film directed by Rajamouli, hit the screens today to a huge response from the audience.
Touted as the most expensive film produced in the country with an investment of nearly Rs 200 crores, the film starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Ramyakrishna, Anushka and Tamannah in the lead roles was stated to have been released in over 4,000 theatres across the world.
Cinema lovers thronged the theatres in Hyderabad as also those in several cities and towns in the two Telugu states when the screening of the film started this morning.
Police had to intervene to control the huge crowds at theatres in some places.
One report said that frenzied fans offered a goat as "bali" (sacrifice) seeking success of the movie, at Vikarabad of the Rangareddy district.
Rajamouli visited a theatre in the city this morning, along with some other members of the film unit. When the media approached him to speak, Rajamouli refused to say anything. (NSS)
