Director S S Rajamouli and producer Shobu Yarlagadda thanked the police for tracking and arresting some persons who tried to pirate
Bahubali 2.
Speaking to the media after meeting the CCS and Cyber crime police on Saturday, Rajamouli said that the police had caught the culprits after going through a lot of trouble and effort, and expressed his profuse gratitude for it.
He said that the culprits had downloaded the film from the server of the theatre located at Bigusarai near Patna (the Bihar capital). They then first threatened Hindi version producer Karan Johar and demanded money saying that they would upload the film onto the Internet in case the filmmakers failed to pay Rs 15 lakhs. They later called the Arka Media office and repeated the threat.
Rajamouli said that the Bihar police did not help in tracking down the culprits, but the Telangana police went out of their way to identify them and arrest them.
He said that piracy continued even though the film industry was taking several precautionary measures, and demanded that the police initiate stringent action against the arrested pirates.
Rajamouli and Yarlagadda met ACP Raghuveer and DCP Avinash Mahanthi. Speaking on the occasion, Raghuveer said that the culprits were in jail, and the police were interrogating them to know about any other piracy they indulged in in the past.
