The second phase of the State Legislative Assembly's budget session will continue till June 21.
The decision was taken during the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee chaired by Speaker Nadendla Manohar, on Monday. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, leader of the opposition N Chandrababu Naidu, TRS floor leader Etela Rajender, YSRCP leader Y S Vijaylakshmi, BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy, CPI MLA Gunda Mallesh and Lok Satta member Jayaprakash Narayana also participated in the meeting.
During the BAC meeting, the Chief Minister turned down the demand raised by Etela Rajender (TRS), Mothukupally Narsimhulu (TDP), G Kishan Reddy (BJP) and G Mallesh (CPI) to introduce the Telangana Bill during the session. He said that the Telangana issue was under the purview of the Centre and it was the Centre's prerogative to take a decision on the same.
However, the TRS leader made it clear that his party would stall the proceedings of the House if the Telangana Bill was introduced.
Kiran Kumar Reddy also informed that the "Bangaru Talli" scheme will be given a statutory status by introducing a bill in the budget session.
He also did not accept the opposition's demand for increasing the number of days of the present budget session. Instead, he advised the parties to utilise the already-allotted time properly. (INN)
