Former minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, on Sunday, demanded that the Central Bureau Of Investigation arrest
Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case.
Talking to reporters in Nellore, Chandramohan Reddy said that it was strange that despite naming Jagan as the prime accused in the charge sheet in the disproportionate assets case, the probing agency did not arrest him.
He said that Jagan might influence the witnesses and tamper with the evidence if he is allowed to move freely in the state. Therefore, Jagan must be immediately arrested to ensure fair investigation into the case, he said.
However, the Nellore district TDP president accused the UPA Government of trying to shield Jaganmohan Reddy.
He said that when senior politicians like Kanimozi, A Raja and Amar Singh could be arrested, there ought not be any problem in arresting Jaganmohan Reddy.
He alleged that some officials and politicians were wrongly trying to create an impression that Jagan's arrest might disrupt the law and order in Andhra Pradesh.
Chandramohan Reddy also slammed Jaganmohan Reddy for trying to project himself as innocent. He said that Jagan must surrender himself before the CBI and prove his innocence in a court of law. (INN)
