Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao, on Friday, directed the police to make foolproof arrangements for the smooth conduct of Group-1 preliminary examinations being conducted by Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission on September 5.
The DGP conducted a review meeting with officials in the wake of the Telangana Students' Joint Action Committee
call for a Telangana bandh on September 5. The TSJAC is demanding postponement of examination until the government clears its stand on reserving a 42% quota in jobs for Group-1 qualifiers from Telangana.
The DGP directed Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to install video cameras around the examination centres to record the movement of students.
Aravinda Rao also directed them to impose Section 144 around the 445 examination centres to prevent any untoward incidents. 2 lakh students are expected to take the examination across the state for 198 posts.
The DGP warned that the police would initiate stern action against those who attempt to disrupt the examination. He said the police would arrange a 3-tier security network at the examination centre and record the movements of students.
Aravinda Rao said 61,000 students were expected to take the examination at 125 centres in the city, and about 34,000 students at 188 centres in the Telangana region.
The police will review the situation and issue orders accordingly for the smooth conduct of examination, he said.
